Dell iDRAC7 and iDRAC8 Devices Code Injection/RCE

Vulnerability

Remote Code Evaluation will result in the entire web application and web server being compromised.Here RCE is performed over Dell iDRAC7 and iDRAC8 Devices.Versions of Dell EMC iDRAC7/iDRAC8 prior to 2.52.52.52 include a CGI injection vulnerability that could be exploited to run remote code.Unauthenticated remote attackers can be able to execute remote code using CGI variables.

Impact

There is a lot of information disclosure.It is possible to change certain system files or information, but the attacker has no control over what can be changed, or the scope of what the attacker can affect is restricted.There is a decrease in efficiency or a disruption in the availability of resources.

Mitigation / Precaution

  • Validate and sanitize inputs
  • In order to patch this vulnerability, please install the official patch Dell EMC iDRAC7/iDRAC8 made available for supported, vulnerable instances.We suggest that you update Dell EMC iDRAC7/iDRAC8 to a version greater than 2.52.52.52 in order to fix this vulnerability.
