Cockpit prior to 0.12.0 NoSQL injection in /auth/newpassword

Vulnerability

NoSQL injection occur when an attacker is able to inject malicious code in a NoSQL database.This is typically done through JSON and Javascript code.Here NoSQL injection is performed over Cockpit prior .Agentejo Cockpit prior to 0.11.2 are vulnerable to the attack.The Controller/Auth.php new password feature in Agentejo Cockpit prior to 0.11.2 enables NoSQL injection.

Impact

A lot of information disclosure can happen.It is possible to change certain system files or information, but the attacker has no control over what can be changed, or the scope of what the attacker can affect is restricted.There is a decrease in efficiency or a disruption in the availability of resources.

Mitigation / Precaution

  • Avoid using unsanitized user inputs in application code
  • Validate length and type of the data
